Dan Fisher was born into a musical family in New York City. His father Fred wrote “Peg o’ My Heart; his sister Doris, known as the “Queen of the Juke Box,” created such hits as “You Always Hurt the One You Love”; and his brother Marvin wrote “When Sunny Gets Blue.” Dan Fisher is best known for the jazz standard “Good Morning Heartache,” written with Irene Higgenbotham and lyricist Ervin M. Drake in 1945 and forever associated with vocalist Billie Holiday.
